President and Founder: Mike Freedman
Mike founded EastwiseRx based on the belief that good nutrition and an active lifestyle can help prevent and manage diabetes and other chronic diseases. As president and founder, Mike leads the EatwiseRx team effort to bring the best services and nutrition guidance to their clients. Mike has 20 years of experience leading client-focused healthcare companies. His philosophy of always putting the needs of the client first and making high-quality healthcare accessible is what drives Mike and everyone at EatwiseRx.
Prior to starting EatwiseRx, Mike was a principal at Assistive Technology Group, Inc. for nearly 12 years, where he focused on investing in and growing healthcare companies. He has a proven track record of success developing strong leadership teams and building the resources necessary to take companies to new heights.
Mike holds a Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the NYU Stern School of Business and a Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) from Dartmouth College.
As a former college athlete and avid runner, Mike has always been interested in health and nutrition. In addition to building Eastwise Rx, Mike is strong supporter of youth sports. He is actively involved in youth sports with his five children, serving as president of a local youth hockey program.
Director of Clinical Services: Jeff Ensminger, Dietitian, C.D.E
Jeff Ensminger is the Director of Clinical Services for EatwiseRx. Jeff is a registered dietitian who brings more than 20 years of experience in nutrition counseling to the table. He is passionate about teaching patients that a diagnosis of diabetes does not have to mean the end of life as they know it, and that life with diabetes can be delicious.
Jeff oversees EatwiseRx’s clinical practice and the staff of Diabetes Diet Experts. He is also responsible for curriculum development and bringing the latest educational tools and technology to the company.
Prior to joining EatwiseRx, Jeff helped thousands of patients learn to manage their health as Founder and Owner of Propel Health, LLC, a Nutrition and Diabetes Education Private Practice. He also served as Diabetes Educator and Dietitian for Buffalo Medical Group, PC, and Chief Clinical Dietitian for Cuba Memorial Hospital and for Cattaraugus and Allegheny County focusing on home care patients.
Jeff holds a Master’s degree (M.S.) in Dietetics from D’Youville College and a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Business Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology
He is an active member of the both the National and Local chapters of the American Dietetic Association, American Diabetes Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators.
As an avid marathoner and overall health enthusiast, Jeff and his family practice what he preaches. When he is not busy coaching patients on diet and nutrition, he is coaching his sons’ hockey, soccer, baseball and tennis teams.
Director of Business Development: Helen Resor
Helen Resor is the Director of Business Development for EatwiseRx. Helen works to forge strong relationships with physicians, health agencies, and community centers to build awareness of and increase accessibility to the EatwiseRx program for patients with diabetes. In addition, Helen helps grow one of EatwiseRx’s patient engagement tools, Savings for Health, a website which educates patients about how they can eat healthy and save money.
Helen holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History and Political Science from Yale University where she was heavily involved in Community Health Educators, a program that partnered with local schools to educate students on all aspects of health.
Outside of work, Helen is passionate about the outdoors and has been active in conservation and environmental protection efforts. Helen won a bronze medal at the 2006 Torino Olympics as a member of the United States Olympic Women’s Hockey Team. She continues to be active in hockey and has been sharing her love of the game coaching girls of all ages.
